From a place you have to a path you can follow
PlacedWhere is a personal inventory, not a warehouse system. A level can be a closet or a shipping container. You do not need aisles, SKUs, or a receiving dock.
PlacedWhere now has a private browser app. Features marked upcoming are still being built.
Five steps

Add a property
Start with a real place: a house, a storage unit, a workshop, or a shipping container in the yard. You can keep more than one.

Map locations
Rooms, walls, shelves, racks, and corners nest however that place actually works. Nothing forces a room, then a cabinet, then a shelf, then a bin.
- 3Scanning upcoming
Add and label bins
A bin is a movable container. Add it by name and assign a code such as 00427. PlacedWhere does not require proprietary labels. Camera scanning is upcoming; manual code entry works in the browser app.

Add belongings
Put an item in a fixed place or inside a bin. When the bin moves, what is recorded inside it moves with the bin.

Search
Ask where something is and follow the path back: property, location, and bin. A picture search and searching with a full sentence are upcoming and are not available.
Hierarchies that fit the place
The same inventory can hold a house, a storage unit, a workshop, and a container in the yard. Depth is whatever you need.

Bin 00427
Generic preprinted labels are enough. PlacedWhere does not require a proprietary sticker. The idea is to associate a barcode or bin number with the container, then let the container carry the belongings.
Scanning that code and saving the association is upcoming and is not available. Moving a bin so its contents stay with it is how the inventory model works.
